A modular, self-sufficient hydrogen energy system for decentralised applications is being built in Ras Al Khaimah (United Arab Emirates). The project is to combine agri-photovoltaics with an autonomous off-grid energy system, modern water treatment and intelligent irrigation, so that energy generation and cultivation complement each other.
On the farm, a photovoltaic system generates electricity during the day. The existing Energy Center in a 40-foot container comprises the control system, inverters and a 130 kWh battery storage system; an internet connection is available.
HydroSolid’s contribution
The Energy Center is to be expanded with a hydrogen system comprising electrolysis, storage and a fuel cell. The components required to operate the hydrogen system are installed in an insulated 40-foot container, and the HIVE G hydrogen storage units in a separate 20-foot container.
