HIVE S500
HydroSolid is developing a modular large-scale hydrogen storage system based on its hybrid technology — from the self-built 10-litre prototype to an industrially manufacturable storage system.

In the HIVE S500 development project, HydroSolid is scaling its hybrid technology into a modular large-scale hydrogen storage system. The basis is a self-developed and self-built low-pressure storage unit with a volume of 10 litres, which is being transferred into an industrially manufacturable storage system.
The development approach combines mechanical stability, storage capability and a lower operating pressure.
HydroSolid’s contribution
Work in 2025 and 2026 focuses on scaling the prototype up to large-scale storage. The project is funded under the aws Seedfinancing Deep Tech programme; the funding was approved on 7 July 2025.
A modular 20-foot container for 255 to 510 kg of hydrogen is envisaged as the development target. The basic equipment is to comprise a storage cell for 255 kg as well as the components relevant to operation and safety.
Key facts and project status
- 10-litre prototype built.
- Project duration 13 March 2025 to 30 June 2027.
- The key figures for the large-scale storage system are development targets, not product data.
