At the Lower Austria Sports Centre on the NV-Arena site in St. Pölten, HydroSolid’s hydrogen system stores surplus solar power from the newly built solar carport. At night, a fuel cell makes the energy available again as electricity for lighting the site.
The system was ceremonially opened on 3 September 2024 in the presence of more than 250 representatives from business and diplomacy.
HydroSolid’s contribution
HydroSolid developed the modular storage centre with system control, electrolysis, hydrogen storage and reconversion to electricity. The simulation in 2023 was followed by permitting, the preparation of official inspection reports and installation in 2024.
The low-pressure system operates at a maximum of 35 bar and, at full build-out, is designed for up to 135 kWh of electrical energy.
