A 980 kWp photovoltaic system and a 1.2 MWh battery storage system are installed at the SAN Group’s Herzogenburg site. The aim of the project was to bring the existing SMA and Fronius inverters and the neoom battery storage system together in a common system and to control them in an economically optimised way.
Previously, employees had to monitor electricity prices and system operation manually on an ongoing basis and to curtail or switch off the PV system by hand when prices were negative. HYD.OS now performs this task automatically.
HydroSolid’s contribution
HydroSolid installed an edge device as the central interface and connected the SMA and Fronius inverters, the neoom battery storage system and the electricity tariff to it. With this, the HYD.OS energy management system controls all components together, automatically and based on electricity prices.
When feed-in prices are low, the PV energy generated charges the battery storage. When electricity prices are negative, HYD.OS automatically reduces the output of the PV system. During economically unfavourable periods, the storage system additionally supports peak shaving, thereby reducing load peaks.
