On the former production site of the Fürst joinery in Melk, in the immediate vicinity of Melk Abbey, one of the first “New European Bauhaus” neighbourhoods in a rural area is to be created. The historic existing buildings will be comprehensively renovated and extended with circular timber buildings.
The neighbourhood is to demonstrate a complete solution for highly efficient, purely renewable heating and cooling supply as well as for resource-efficient, circular construction and renovation. The goal is a CO₂-neutral, multifunctional and scalable flagship project with international appeal.
HydroSolid’s contribution
HydroSolid is a consortium partner in the FFG project “Leuchttürme der Wärmewende”. HydroSolid is responsible for integrating the HYPER Unit as well as for developing and integrating the HYD.OS energy management system, which is to control the electrical energy flows in the neighbourhood and make them visible, and coordinates the interfaces with the building management system.
The energy management system is to control the energy flows and generate long-term forecasts of the power available in the future. On this basis, the heat generation receives a specification of how much electrical power is available — so it can adapt proactively to the expected energy situation.
